being john malkovich
:: i used to really like malkovitch

I was recently really disappointed by John Malkovich. Not just because Knockaround Guys did not live up to my expectations, but because of the sad article I read on The Independent.

perseverence
:: Time will tell: "he who hurries, can not walk with dignity"

No matter how much time, money and goodwill you may put behind a project, sometimes, the timing may just not be right. As a success-driven executive, all you can do is remove all obstacles, find allies, motivate and sway indifferent but powerful players towards helping you while neutralizing contentious issues and belligerent parties. Basically, give it all you got but know when to stop.

Know your limits: control the controllable. You cannot force things to happen. You can only push and tilt matters towards a generally desired direction. You must also have the strength and the perseverance to manage the unexpected. You should be ready to be flexible and prepared to take a couple of steps back to jump higher and further.

Indeed, one who hurries cannot walk with dignity. It may be a proverb out of a fortune cookie, but it sure does apply to everyday life. Your hard-won success may even be perceived as a failure if you mismanage the required effort, its timing or your expected outcome.
The professional should do everything possible to have things go his way, but there are always some things that are out of his control.

Once again, success is not just about accomplishments, but resides in the manner they’re achieved.
